Dating from around the 12th Century and standing over 25 metres tall this tower was built on the site of a monastery supposedly founded by St. Patrick.
The tower overlooks Killala bay in north Mayo where the French army landed in the failed 1798 rebellion, it overlooks the area of the first and last battles of that rebellion.
