Kilkenny Castle

Some more shots of the beautiful Kilkenny Castle, I have posted here before where you can get the history of the Castle
the Castle St Patricks Evening
Some shots from around the outside of the Castle, no pictures can be taken inside the Castle. A huge amount of time and effort has been put in restoring the Castle to its original state while uncovering some pretty cool stuff, which helped solve mysteries of the location of the original castle. Because of the age and nature and value of some of the tapestries etc no photographs are allowed be taken. But for a cost of 7.5 Euros you can wander around and look at them for the day.

Thanks for your comments, I must update the text. The reason for not allowing pictures is because of the huge costs that was spent to return the place to its former glory and some of the paintings/draperies are pretty old and could be damaged by Flash photography.

What a wonderful place. You got some wonderful outdoors shots, at least. I love the one with the crocuses (still lots and lots of snow on the ground here). But I agree, it sucks that they don't allow photography indoors. They could allow photography and just ban flash ...

but then there's the problem of guys like me posting pics on the web and people not bothering to go there, I heard a guy living beside Newgrange that he never bothered going there because he can see what it looks like from the road and he saw pics of the inside! unlike some places this one I agree with a certain amount
