Snow Ireland

An unusual sight, I take it :) Have you had as much trouble with the snow as they have in England? I hear it's been complete chaos there, accidents, roads not cleared, schools closed, public transport not running, people not getting to work...

if we get a half inch of snow the airport close, if we had snow on the ground for 2 days the country would come to a halt. It might sound funny, but because we so rarely have these conditions we do not have the equipment to deal with it. In Santa Rosa America they can name the date and time that it snowed.

To us Scandinavians that does sound funny, I'm afraid. It's like the concept of the 'snow day' - in this country that doesn't exist, getting a day off because there's been a snowfall sounds ridiculous to Norwegians. You just have to get to work or school however you can - how you choose to solve that problem has nothing to do with your employer or school, so you've just got to get there. :-) But it's like you said, we're prepared for it and know how to deal with it.

I know and in parts of America and Canada they have to park cars underground to stop the Engine freezing, a half inch of snow closes our airports!
