Rochfortbridge bog view, co westmeath

Meant to add this before a fine day in Ireland, this is on the road to Rhode

Beautiful colors. Marshes/bogs are so cool, they look like they're more or less empty of life at first glance, but when you really look there are lovely plants and insects etc everywhere. :-)

Oh yes, bogs are cool indeed :) I went to the visitors' centre in the Connemara National Park - huge parts of the exhibitions there were devoted to the bogs and the life there.

And I love the smell of burning peat!!

only for that smell Irish and scotch whiskey would not taste the same :)

Mmmm, excellent point :) Though I have to say I prefer Scotch to Irish whiskey - more of the smokey taste - hope you won't be too insulted...?? ;)

Do you know, what's the name of the mountain in the back?? I saw that several times from motorway and need to know anything about that. Thanks

Slieve Bloom mountains I would imagine, a great drive over them between Kinnitty and Mountmellick
