Moate sculpture Westmeath

This is a sculpture that is on the Moate exit of the M6 (Dublin to Galway), there lots of sculptures along new sections of roads but this is the first one of the few I liked in a while.

Nice! I love it when authorities try to brighten up non-obvious public areas like that ... even though their efforts aren't always successful. Hope you will post more pictures of these (but I guess you won't since they have not lived up to your high artistic standards ;-). I would like to see some though, if you ever see any more nice ones. :-)

Oh cool! Those things are all over the place along the motor ways, right? I think I remember seeing some weird statue thing driving from Dublin towards Newgrange. I remember thinking that it was a bit strange - we couldn't see it properly and yet it wasn't allowed to stop to look at it more closely!

Its actually part of developement law here, a percentage of spend goes on Art and amenities! This is one of the few innovative ideas, some are cool but in places hard to stop, others spoil landscape, I dont have high artistic standards but I believe that things should be one with their environment (Zen Art:P), there are sculptures that 90% of people dont like I know hating art is akin to racism in some minds, but if its put up there for people to enjoy then it should not be elitist.

Findabair did not see you comment, there are a few in the cities also, one or 2 cool ones on sides of buildings, cant think of the one on the motorway to Newgrange

Not in fact sure if it was outside of Dublin - I had forgotten all about it until you reminded me. Might it have been somewhere between Galway and Carraroe that I saw one?
