Old Border Crossing.Monaghan Armagh Border.

During the "Troubles" in Ireland 35 bridges were blown up between the border of Rep. of Ireland and Northern Ireland. This one survived, some of the older bridges along major crossings were bypassed in favour of newer bridges, this is one of them.

Aww ... ! How could they blow up these beautiful old bridges. :-(

That's why I put in the link to the "troubles" , the reason was to stop the flow of paramilitaries back and forth across the border. Its a tough subject and would need a dedicated blog or a book to explain it all.

Yeah, I know a little about it. A tragic part of Irish history. :-(

Good that some of these beautiful old structures survived, though. They're part of your history too. :-)
